Robust Economic Growth in NTB Surpasses National Average

H. Wirawan Ahmad, General Administration Assistant of the NTB Provincial Secretariat, affirms that the inclusive economic growth in the NTB Province surpasses the national average. According to NTB BPS data, the NTB economy in the first quarter of 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, experienced a growth rate of 3.57%. In terms of production, the construction sector exhibited the highest growth at 12.76%. From the expenditure perspective, the component of Household Consumption Expenditures (PMTB) recorded the highest growth at 6.21%. In the first quarter of 2023, the Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB) based on current prices reached IDR 40.10 trillion, while at constant prices, it amounted to IDR 25.30 trillion.

"Our economic growth in NTB continues to exceed the national average," stated H. Wirawan Ahmad during the opening of the Regional Consultation (Konreg) on PDRB for Java-Bali-Nusatenggara Jabalnusra in Mataram. The regional consultation (Konreg) was attended by all Regional Development Planning Agencies (Bappeda), the Information and Communication Office, BPS, and Bank Indonesia for Java-Bali-Nusatenggara. The theme focused on promoting inclusive and sustainable economic development to eradicate extreme poverty. It is expected that the Regional PDRB Consultation for Java-Bali-Nusatenggara will serve as an initial step in aiding the formulation of regional policies, planning, and the evaluation of development outcomes. It aims to provide information that can depict the economic performance of the NTB region. "We must continue our efforts to advance economic transformation in the future," he expressed hope. Head of BPS NTB, Drs Wahyudin, revealed that the NTB economy in the first quarter of 2023, compared to the previous quarter, contracted by 2.37% (q-to-q). In terms of production, the Manufacturing Industry field experienced the deepest contraction at 15.23%. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, the Export of Goods and Services component faced the highest contraction at 20.17%. The NTB economy, excluding metal ore mining in the first quarter of 2023, grew by 0.71% q-to-q and 4.65% y-on-y.
