The Indonesian Export Financing Institution (LPEI) reported the successful international expansion of a Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (SME) involved in coconut sugar production, reaching markets in ten countries. Maqin U. Norhadi, the Executive Director of Business Development at LPEI, highlighted the achievements of this SME under the Export-Oriented Small and Medium Enterprise Assignment Program (PKE UKM). "The PKE UKM program is a manifestation of the state's presence through the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, provided to LPEI as a form of state support through the state budget (APBN) to export-oriented business players," stated Maqin in a recent press release. The mentioned SME is CV Hugo Inovasi, specialising in organic coconut production located in Banyumas. Astin Atsna, the founder of CV Hugo Inovasi, revealed that the financing from LPEI was utilised as working capital to fulfil orders from international buyers and enhance production capacity. Consequently, the coconut sugar product has successfully entered markets in ten countries, including the United States, Spain, Ghana, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Australia.
Astin noted that over 90% of CV Hugo Inovasi's sales are now attributed to exports. In addition to financial support, Astin acknowledged receiving consultation services from LPEI, including advice on financial reporting. He expressed hopes that the support provided by LPEI would enhance the business's capacity and broaden its market access. The PKE UKM program is a government initiative facilitated through the Ministry of Finance, channelled via LPEI, to support export-oriented SMEs. This program aims to provide easier access to financing, export credit insurance, export guarantees, and consulting services for SMEs engaged in export-oriented activities. From 2021 to September 2023, the state support through the PKE UKM program has reached IDR 924 billion, benefiting over 120 SMEs engaged in more than 30 products exported to over 40 destination countries. This signifies a commitment to boosting the competitiveness and global presence of Indonesian SMEs in the international market.
