Trade Expo Indonesia 2023 Records Transaction Volume of USD 25.3 Billion

Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan officially closed the 38th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) on Sunday, October 22, at the International Convention Exhibition Bumi Serpong Damai (ICE BSD), Tangerang, Banten. However, this expo, which also took place online, will continue until December 18, 2023, through www.tradexpoindonesia.com. Amidst the global economic slowdown, thanks to the collaboration and support from all parties, the interim transaction volume of TEI 2023 has doubled compared to the previous year, amounting to USD 25.3 billion or IDR 401.5 trillion. Minister Zulkifli Hasan elaborated on the accomplishments of TEI 2023, which include the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) valued at USD 18.31 billion, daily transactions totaling USD 4.17 million, and business matching transactions amounting to USD 18.90 million. Additionally, there were investment transactions amounting to USD 2.81 billion, which encompassed investments in the healthcare sector and educational cooperation with China.

Minister Zulkifli Hasan revealed that this year, TEI featured 1,232 business participants and received 32,966 visitors. These visitors comprised 29,873 physical attendees, with 3,162 of them being buyers from 114 different countries, and 3,093 virtual attendees. Minister Zulkifli Hasan also highlighted the some countries with the most substantial trade in goods and services at TEI 2023. Malaysia led with USD 6.29 billion, constituting 27.95%, followed by India with USD 6.23 billion (27.68%), and China with USD 5.58 billion (24.82%). Meanwhile, some products with the largest transactions are coal with USD 13.26 billion, representing 58.93%, chemical and organic products at USD 2.92 billion (12.98%), strategic industries at USD 2.73 billion (12.18%), and electronic products at USD 612.32 million (2.72%). Minister Zulkifli Hasan also expressed his appreciation for all those who supported the implementation of TEI 2023. “Let us continue to enhance collaboration and cooperation that has been established for the mutual goal of increasing non-oil and gas exports. To become an advanced nation, the world recognizes the importance of our products. Only when our exports dominate the global market can we achieve an advanced nation by 2045.
