The MotoGP Indonesia 2023, held at the Mandalika Circuit, has given a significant boost to the regional tourism sector. The natural beauty showcased through the stunning beaches has made Mandalika one of the Super Priority Destinations (DSP). The presence of the Mandalika Circuit in the Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), and its role as the venue for the prestigious MotoGP Indonesia has added to the attraction for tourists. The impact is felt across various sectors, including the enhancement of the tourism and creative economy sectors in the NTB region. Assistant 2 of the Regional Secretariat of Central Lombok Regency, conveyed that there are currently hundreds of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) participating in this event. We have about 20 MSMEs inside the circuit. Outside the circuit, such as in the Mandalika Bazaar area, there are 302 MSMEs. They not only sell food but also various crafts like woven ketak.
The presence of a variety of culinary delights and NTB's distinctive crafts has made the NTB tourism, including Lombok and its surroundings, increasingly renowned. This was emphasised by the Director of Information and Communication for the Economy and Maritime Affairs at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kemenkominfo). Lombok has become an extraordinary super-priority tourism destination. The MotoGP event has not only boosted the local economy but also represented a moment for Indonesia's hospitality to be recognized globally. In addition to buying products from MSMEs, the riders also post on their respective social media, and it goes viral. Tourist destinations in the NTB region are well-prepared. Lendek added that both local and international tourists can now enjoy not only the race atmosphere but also the natural beauty and local cuisine, including seven tourist villages around the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) with various cultural attractions. Furthermore, spectators of MotoGP Mandalika 2023 can also enjoy various side events divided into several zones, such as the Merdeka Zone, Bhinneka Zone, Tropika Zone, and Pusaka Zone. There are 50 assisted MSMEs at the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2023. A total of 42 MSMEs offering food and beverages will enliven the booths in the Bhinneka Zone (Zone A), located near the North Tunnel.
