Indonesia stands as one of the largest footwear producers in the world. According to the World Footwear Yearbook 2023 data, in 2022, Indonesia secured its position as the third-largest footwear exporter globally, following China and Vietnam. The export volume of Indonesian footwear products reached an impressive 535 million pairs, accounting for 3.5% of the total global footwear exports. Based on the World Footwear Yearbook 2023 data, in 2022, Indonesia was the fifth-largest consumer of footwear products worldwide, with a total consumption of 702 million pairs of shoes, representing 3.2% of the global footwear consumption. Indonesia's footwear industry has a strong connection with the youth, who constitute a major segment of this industry's market. The contribution of the younger generation reflects the way the footwear industry has evolved in Indonesia. The youth are driving fashion trends and the latest styles, as well as fostering technological adoption within the footwear industry.
 
Through the Indonesian Footwear Empowerment Institute (BPIPI), the #Indonesiamelangkah campaign aims to stimulate the creativity of today's youth, encouraging them to explore their potential and collaborate with the footwear industry. One of the initiatives in this regard is the Indonesia Footwear Creative Competition (IFCC). This year, IFCC received 482 entries. Out of these, 28 nominations were curated and selected to become the final three finalists in each category. These top three finalists, who were carefully curated, presented their work at the Grand Final of IFCC 2023 – Next Level Makers Talk. The #IndonesiaMelangkah campaign aims to promote local potential and foster collaboration with the footwear industry through IFCC.
