Sidoarjo Regency Government Facilitates Sidoarjo MSMEs To Embark On Export

The Sidoarjo Regency Government in East Java has taken steps to facilitate micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the local regency to embark on the path of exports, aiming to elevate their products to the global stage and contribute to community prosperity. Sidoarjo has gained recognition as a hub for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), establishing a robust economic foundation that proved resilient even during periods of hyperinflation and recession that impacted the region recently. In 2022, the Surabaya Export Center successfully supported 1,500 MSMEs to venture into export from 8 provinces under the Ministry of Trade. Of this considerable number, 300 MSMEs hailed from Sidoarjo Regency. Sidoarjo possesses the potential to expand its export market, primarily requiring an enhancement in the capacity of MSMEs' human resources. Currently, 28 MSMEs have successfully exported to Malaysia, and our next targets are Korea and Australia.

Almost all of the 17 programs established under the Muhdlor-Subandi administration are oriented towards benefiting MSMEs. Initiatives such as launching 2,000 upskilled MSMEs, offering training to render them 'bankable,' streamlining the household industry production permit (PIRT) process, facilitating the acquisition of the Business Identification Number (NIB), and aiding MSMEs' transition into the digital realm are underway. Furthermore, there is also credit assistance from BPR Delta Artha with an annual interest rate of 3%. For those MSMEs that might not yet be 'bankable,' the Independent Women's Business Group (KURMA) program is introduced, offering grants to independent women in every neighbourhood (RT) within Sidoarjo Regency. The goal is for 8,820 RTs to have flagship MSMEs, empowering mothers to contribute significantly to the family's economy, rather than solely relying on their husbands' income. The key principles to maintain a robust macroeconomy, including the importance of adapting skills up-to-date in line with the current era, fostering extensive networking connections, strategically managing branding, and ensuring both the quantity and quality of products remain consistent.
