The Minister of Agriculture flagged off a convoy of container trucks carrying shallots in Brebes, destined for export to Thailand. In this year's harvest festival, the exported shallots amount to 4,500 tons, sourced from various groups of farmers. The export departure took place at the shallot warehouse in Klampok Village, Wanasari Sub-District, Brebes, on Wedne. Prior to the export launch, The Minister personally observed the onion packaging process and inspected the contents of the containers. Shallots are a robust agricultural commodity in Indonesia, with production reaching hundreds of thousands of tons annually. Shallots represent a strong agricultural commodity in Indonesia. The quantity produced in Brebes alone reaches hundreds of thousands of tons, satisfying not only national demand but also catering to exports. This export is expected to yield positive outcomes for shallot farmers. During the harvest festival, Brebes red shallots will not only be confined to the domestic market but will also venture into the international market.
 
The shallot market is open widely, both domestically and internationally. It is hoped that this will assist farmers in stabilizing prices during the harvest season. The Indonesian Red Onion Association (ABMI) noted that the exported shallots amount to 4,500 tons, originating from various farmer groups in Brebes. The market is flooded with agricultural commodity red shallots during the harvest festival. Selling the harvest (exports) to Thailand will contribute to price stability, preventing an oversupply in the regional market. This export can absorb farmers' produce at fair prices. At the farmer level, Alex further noted that shallots are priced between IDR 15,000 to IDR 18,000 per kilogram. Meanwhile, the export-quality produce is purchased at IDR 21,000 per kilogram.
