The South Kalimantan provincial government, through its relevant departments, continues to develop innovations and strategies to increase palm oil exports. As palm oil is a leading commodity in the plantation sector and the second largest foreign exchange contributor in the region, after the mining sector. The Head of the Department of Plantation and Livestock (Disbunnak) of South Kalimantan, mentioned that innovations and strategies have been implemented to increase palm oil exports, such as improving production and productivity, as well as downstream palm oil industries.
South Kalimantan provincial government has issued Governor Regulation Number 013 of 2023 concerning the Sustainable Palm Oil Regional Action Plan (RAD-KSB) for the period of 2022-2024. Furthermore, integrated diversification based on palm oil plantations has been carried out through the Smallholder Palm Oil Rejuvenation program. The province has also implemented the Palm Oil-Cattle Integration System (SISKA) and the Partnership-Based Palm Oil-Cattle Integration System (Siska Ku Intip). South Kalimantan provincial government also facilitates the development of plantation roads and other infrastructure to support the improvement of the quality of palm oil businesses through the BPDPKS (Indonesia Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency) funding. Additionally, efforts have been made to increase palm oil production and productivity through the Smallholder Palm Oil Rejuvenation program. The acceleration of the Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certification process prioritized through education and training programs funded by BPDPKS. Meanwhile, the provincial government is also providing assistance to improve the quality of plantation commodities to meet the demands of importers.
