Indonesia's Coffee Exports Value Reached USD 1.13 Billion Throughout 2022

Coffee exports have consistently shown an increase year after year. Throughout 2022, Indonesia's coffee export value reached USD 1.13 billion, indicating a rise compared to the export value in 2021. According to the Chairman of the Indonesian Coffee Exporters Association (AEKI), the high coffee exports demonstrate the excellent quality and demand for Indonesian coffee worldwide. The significant demand for Indonesian coffee serves as evidence that it is categorized as a leading export commodity. Based on data released by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the growth rate of coffee exports in 2022 increased by 12.92% compared to 2021. It was also stated that the quality of Indonesian coffee is able to compete with coffee from other countries such as Brazil, Vietnam, and others. Throughout 2022, Indonesia has exported a total of 434.19 thousand tons of coffee, equivalent to USD 1.13 billion. This amount will also contribute to the increase of the country's foreign exchange reserves.

The Chairman of the Indonesian Coffee Exporters Association (AEKI) also met with the Minister of Trade and the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises. During the meeting, AEKI requested government support for coffee industry players, including exporters, SMEs, cooperatives, and farmers. With the Ministry support, AEKI also open the opportunity to collaborate with external parties who are also eager to advance the coffee industry in Indonesia.
