The Governor of East Java officially inaugurated the Arjuno Mountain Slope Agroforestry Rural Area for Coffee at Rumah Oyot, Coban Talun, Tulungrejo Village, Batu City. At the event, the governor also stated that the agroforestry rural area on the slopes of Mount Arjuno could strengthen coffee production, forest conservation, and foster synergy among various institutions as coffee has successfully established communal branding. We can meet the quantity and sustainability of coffee products for export markets with communal branding. It was also mentioned that rural areas could be developed into foreign exchange-generating villages, provided they have unique and authentic products. The Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI) will provide assistance and support to help these villages generate foreign exchange.
Meanwhile, the Acting Mayor of Batu explained that Batu City, with a land area of 197 km2, consists of 15.65% protected forests, 16.8% production forests, and 22.6% conservation forests. In order to restore the ecological quality of forest areas while ensuring the welfare of the local community, the agroforestry rural area for coffee on the slopes of Mount Arjuno is highly needed. The coffee agroforestry area will utilize 500 hectares in Tulungrejo Village, 500 hectares in Sumbergondo Village, 300 hectares in Bulukerto Village, and 500 hectares in Giripurno Village. Coffee on the slopes of Arjuno is expected to become the iconic commodity of Batu City.
