The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, ensured that Indonesia's 5 Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP) would be completed by 2024. For now, Coordinating Minister Luhut revealed that the construction of the 5 DPSPs was being monitored according to the target or progress on track. The 5 DPSPs are Borobudur, Likupang, Mandalika, Lake Toba and Labuan Bajo. Furthermore, Coordinating Minister Luhut revealed that he would again discuss the program at the next meeting in May. "Later in May, after fasting, we will evaluate again. So from now until May an integration meeting will be held so that all of this can work," concluded the Coordinating Minister Luhut. Previously, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported a total of 5.47 million foreign tourist visits throughout 2022. This figure is up 251.28 percent when compared to visits in 2021 which were only 1.55 million.
Head of BPS Margo detailed, tourist arrivals through the main gate were as many as 4.14 million people, while through the border gate there were 1.32 million visits. The high number of foreign tourist visits throughout 2022 shows better conditions even though it is still in the atmosphere of the Covid-19 pandemic. On the other hand, the penetration of tourist arrivals of more than 5 million visits shows that the target of foreign tourist visits in 2022 has been achieved. Considering that the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has a target of bringing in 3.6 million tourists. Margo explained that the high number of foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia was inseparable from various international level activities in Indonesia. Starting from the Moto GP in Mandalika, holding the ASEAN Para Games to the G20 Summit in 2022. Based on their country of origin, there are 5 countries with the highest number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in 2022. They are Malaysia, Timor Leste, Singapore, Australia and India.
