Sleman Regent, Kustini Sri Purnomo invites farmers to work together in developing agricultural potential in Sleman Regency. What's more, chili is Sleman's main commodity.
This was conveyed by the regent when he was present while at the same time giving directions on the Chili Farmer Development activities at the Agribusiness Sub Terminal Complex (STA), Kapanewon Tempel, Saturday (28/1/2023), along with the UMKM Gebyar agenda from local residents.
The Regent invited the Kapanewon Tempel farmers to work together in developing agricultural potential in Sleman Regency. What's more, chili is a superior commodity produced by Sleman Regency as a food barn for the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
The Regent gave directions so that farmers would continue to follow developments in science and technology in developing their businesses.
“The farmer plants, raises and sells. If you just plant it and don't take care of it, you will die. Likewise maintenance, also requires energy and thought. There are rules for planting," said Kustini.
The Regent hopes that hospitality and communication between farmers can be maintained, so that cooperation between farmers can be well established and be able to produce innovations in strengthening Sleman's food security.
“Sleman is a support for agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries. By holding regular meetings here, it is hoped that ladies and gentlemen can discuss together in strengthening food security in Sleman in particular," said Kustini.
Meanwhile, Panewu Tempel Suyanto reported that to date there are 2,900 farmers in the Tempel area. To create independent and prosperous farmers, the Tempel farmer group receives technical guidance and holds regular meetings to discuss agricultural business development.
"Every Friday a kind of farmer's market is also held at this STA, like the one held in the Sleman Regency Government area," said Suyanto.
Suyanto hopes that the cooperation between the Sleman Regency government and the Tempel farmers can continue to run well, so that coaching for farmers can continue and have a wider impact.
