The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) revealed that the Industrial Confidence Index (IKI) in January 2023 continued to increase. IKI in January 2023 reached 51.54 when compared to December 2022 which was only 50.07, an increase of 0.64. Secretary of the Directorate General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics (ILMATE) of the Ministry of Industry M. Arifin, said the industry in the ILMATE sector showed a fairly positive increase. Based on IKI, ILMATE's fostered industry represents competitiveness and expansive optimism. This increase can accelerate overall economic growth," Arifin said at the January 2023 Industry Confidence Index Release event, Ministry of Industry Office, South Jakarta, Tuesday (31/1/2023). The increase in performance can be seen from the base metal industry sector. The value of IKI in this industry has increased due to several things, driven by infrastructure and construction projects. Then it is also encouraged by the supply of metal ore as industrial raw material and also exports of nickel and aluminum commodities. Furthermore, the non-machinery and equipment metal goods industry sector showed a fairly good increase in IKI results in January 2023.
Then the machinery and equipment industry also experienced a significant increase compared to the previous year. This is driven by the optimism of entrepreneurs by easing community activities, resulting in an increase in work productivity. This increase in industry growth was driven by the mining, construction and plantation industries, including foreign demand. The electrical equipment industry sector also experienced an increase due to domestic orders and equipment needs. Early February is expected to increase even more. Stable political and economic conditions have made the demand for these motorized vehicles also increase, especially since the government is currently preparing a formulation regarding subsidies for electric vehicles. The transportation equipment sector also increased quite significantly compared to 2022, this was due to new orders and an increase in the volume of product inventory. Unfortunately, there are several sectors that are still experiencing contractions according to IKI 2023. In early February, it is estimated that the market will increase again, because there has been an increase in demand for computers from the government through the procurement of goods and services. The repair service industry sector, machinery and equipment also experienced a slight contraction because the repair sector and machine equipment did not stand alone, so that later it would affect other sectors.
