The Nusa Dewa superior vannamei shrimp main program launched by the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KP), Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, at the end of October 2022, has shown quite significant progress. The program is ready to support the increase in national shrimp production.
This was revealed during Minister KP Trenggono's return visit to the Superior Shrimp and Shellfish Production Center (BPIU2K) in Karangasem, Bali, Tuesday (24/1/2023). It is in the technical implementation unit (UPT) of the Directorate General of Aquaculture that the superior shrimp broodstock program is implemented.
"This is the second time I have come here to make sure and to my surprise it turns out that it is not only shrimp that are getting better at development or research, but there are also abalones that can already be developed which in my opinion is an economic potential that the community can do," said KP Minister Trenggono at the site. .
Program progress shows a good level of productivity through the NuSa Dewa superior broodstock program based on multi-location performance test results.
Apart from the main shrimp, what is also a concern is the matter of feed. Development continues to be carried out through KKP cultivation centers to encourage the independence of domestic aquaculture starting from broodstock, feed, and other productivity supporting technologies.
"So it's not just a matter of enlargement or production, but also what is the most important feed. How to build good broodstock until we finally have independence," he explained.
Minister KP Trenggono also invited the local government to work together to develop shrimp farming because of its high selling value in local and global markets. The government is targeting national shrimp production of 2 million tons in 2024.
"I have also spoken to the deputy regent, and the heads of provincial and district services because the economic value is very high, and the demand is also good, not only locally but also nationally. This is what we can develop," he concluded.
During the working visit, the Minister of KP Trenggono was accompanied by the Deputy Regent of Karang Asem I Wayan Artha Dipa and the Director General of Cultivation Fisheries at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Tb Haeru Rahayu.
