Minister Bahlil Hopes There will be Middle Eastern Investors to Build Halal Tourism Areas in Aceh

The Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) highlighted that Aceh Province is still facing several challenges in terms of investment. This was stated by the Minister of Investment Bahlil Lahadalia in the webinar The Most Prestigious Economic Forum in Aceh, Wednesday (25/1/2023). According to Bahlil, the investment posture in Aceh is not much different from Papua with its specifics. "To be honest, I don't want to say this in front of my parents. This is just making sweeteners, but what comes is investment from Korea, Japan, Europe, America, China, Hong Kong, they are aggressive," said Bahlil.
The former chairman of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (Hipmi) thinks this condition is not in line with the prospects for Indonesia with the largest Muslim population in the world. Bahlil said he would try to encourage countries in the Middle East region to invest in Aceh. "The government has discussed investments originating from the Middle East, especially the United Arab Emirates regarding the SEZ Arun Industrial Area, to build a halal tourism area, but these investments have suddenly given consideration," he explained. The Minister of Investment views this as a joint work, especially to boost investment inflows in Aceh Province, whose value will drop to IDR 6.2 trillion in 2022. Bahlil will also continue to make every effort to find new formulations so that the Middle East region, such as Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, is interested. for investment in Aceh. The Ministry of Investment, continued Bahlil, plans to activate the fertilizer factory in Aceh to the Minister of SOEs after previously being hampered by issues with gas permits.
