Economists Predict SMEs to Continue to Thrive Throughout 2023, Here's the Reason

Currently, digitization of the digital economy in the informal sector is very important. Utilization of the digital economy is an integral part of the business process of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Director of the Center of Economic and Law Studies (Celios) Bhima Yudhistira sees that, although the Indonesian economy will face various challenges this year, the potential for MSMEs to develop is still very large. "We see that MSMEs will continue to thrive throughout 2023, so more and more informal sectors will develop," Bhima said at a press conference with GudangAda in Jakarta, Thursday (19/1). Bhima said, the presence of digitalization would also make MSMEs level up and be able to maintain their existence. It's just that the current problem is that many MSMEs are still not digitally literate, for example in terms of payment.

The reason is, he sees that there are still many MSMEs that still use payments via cash or cash. Even though at this time, consumer behavior is also one of the factors that demands MSMEs to enter the digital ecosystem. In his presentation, indeed more than 60% of MSMEs have implemented digitization in finding suppliers and outreaching customers. However, only around 20% of MSMEs have implemented digitalization of business processes and the use of digital tools and analysis. However, more than 30% of MSMEs are preparing to implement digitalization of business processes and the use of digital tools and analysis.
