The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) stated that agricultural exports in 2022 would grow by 10.52 percent compared to the previous year. Agricultural exports from January to December 2022 reached USD 4.89 billion. Meanwhile, in the same period in 2021, it was recorded at USD 4.24 billion. Head of BPS Margo Yuwono said the agricultural sector has a fairly good share of 1.61% of non-oil and gas exports. Meanwhile, the largest share of non-oil and gas exports still came from mineral fuels with an export value of USD 54.98 billion. "Overall, non-oil and gas exports accounted for 94.51% of Indonesia's total exports. Meanwhile, if we look at the annual records (year-on-year/Y-on-Y), non-oil and gas exports also increased by 25.80%," said Margo. Based on BPS records, during 2022 Indonesia managed to record export transactions worth USD 291.98 billion, an increase of 26.07 percent compared to the previous year. Overall, Indonesia's trade balance was also a surplus of USD 54.46 billion. "Indonesia's trading partners that contribute the largest surplus are the United States, India and the Philippines," explained Margo.
On a separate occasion, the Head of the Public Relations and Public Information Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) Kuntoro Boga Andri said that the increase in exports continues to be driven through various policies and other long-term programs. Some of them are the Three Times Export Movement (Geratieks) program and improving the quality of domestic production. "We continue to spur the performance of Indonesia's agricultural exports so that they continue to grow from time to time," he explained. Kuntoro said, Indonesia's agricultural exports have consistently continued to increase, including during the pandemic. Based on BPS data, agricultural exports reached USD 3.612 billion in 2019, USD 4.12 billion in 2020, and USD 4.24 in 2021. “This data is a good precedent for agricultural people. This means that the performance of the agricultural sector can continue to increase even when experiencing obstacles and challenges," concluded Kuntoro.
