Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan emphasized that as many as 56 thousand tons of soybeans will soon flood the market so that the producers of tofu, tempeh and processed soybean products can obtain raw materials at affordable prices.
Approaching the fasting month and Eid this year, the government also hopes that soybean prices will soon decrease and stabilize. Zulkifli said this after visiting PT Bungasari Flour Mills Indonesia's factory in Cilegon, Banten, yesterday.
"Today, 56 thousand tons of soybeans were unloaded by the FKS Group at a price of Rp. 12,000/kg and can be used to support the government's program of providing compensation for the difference in the purchase price of soybeans to Rp. 11,000/kg. This program is a continuation of the Government's soybean assistance program which was continued by Bapanas. "Hopefully in January, February, March ahead of fasting and Eid, soybean prices will gradually decrease and stabilize," said Zulkifli.
He also appreciated the entrepreneurs who had imported soybeans. "Entrepreneurs are assets, we must support them. If entrepreneurs can be efficient, soybean prices will be better. I have proposed that subsidies in the form of prices be given directly to importers," he added.
Based on CBOT data on January 13 2023, the international soybean price was recorded at USD 14.99/bushel. This price fell 0.2 percent compared to early January 2023.
Meanwhile, based on the monitoring of the Ministry of Trade on January 12, 2023, the price of soybeans at the level of the Indonesian Tofu and Tempe Producers Cooperative was recorded at IDR 13,175/kg. This value decreased by 3.3% compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, at the importer level, soybean prices were recorded at IDR 12,000/kg.
Meanwhile, Head of the National Food Agency/National Food Agency Arief Prasetyo Adi added that the government had taken a number of strategic and anticipatory steps to prevent scarcity and price fluctuations in soybeans.
"The arrival of these soybeans is in stock to meet domestic demand and consumption, so it is expected to be able to secure availability and keep soybean prices stable at reasonable prices," he said.
Arief said that in order to immediately enjoy the tofu and tempeh producers, the incoming soybeans had to be distributed quickly. "Here there are Gakoptondo, Bulog, RNI, our friends will help speed up distribution too, because we cannot do it alone, this is the time for collaboration, and this is good collaboration, the government has a business sector as well," he concluded.
