Jragung Dam Project Worth IDR 2.3 Trillion Completed in 2024

The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is targeting the construction of the Jragung Dam, which absorbs an investment of IDR 2.3 trillion, to be completed by 2024. The Head of the Pemali-Juana BBWS, Muhammad Adek Rizaldi, said that the Jragung Dam, with a capacity of 90 million m3, will primarily be useful as a source of raw water for Semarang City is 500 liters per second, Grobogan Regency is 250 liters per second and Demak Regency is 250 liters per second, as well as supplying water for irrigation areas covering an area of 4,528 hectares in Semarang Regency. "The contract for the construction of the Jragung Dam was signed at the end of 2020 and construction will begin in mid-2021 after the land preparation process. Currently the overall construction progress of the three work packages is around 21.6 percent and is targeted for completion in 2024," said Adek in his official statement, Wednesday ( 11/1/2023). Adek explained that currently the development was being accelerated with a construction method that was carried out in parallel without having to wait for the completion of one job to start another.


"Currently, the process of stockpiling the body of the dam has started without having to wait for the river diversion tunnel to be completed. So that the heap is not stagnant, the river flow was temporarily diverted by making a river cut," he said. The construction of the Jragung Dam consists of 3 work packages. In detail, packages I and II are in the form of excavation work and embankment of main dams, cliff protection, drilling and grouting. Then, package III includes work on access roads, river diversion, spillway buildings and other works such as building public facilities (fasum). and relocation of 500kV SUTET. Package I was carried out by the service provider PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk. with a contract value of IDR 806.3 billion with physical progress up to January 11, 2023 reaching 14.14 percent. Package II is carried out by Wijaya Karya-PT BRP (KSO) with a contract value of IDR 758 billion with a progress of 24.97 percent and Package III is carried out by PT Brantas Abipraya-PT Pelita Nusa Perkasa (KSO) worth IDR 735.9 billion with a physical progress of 25.68 percent . Head of Specific Non-Vertical Work Unit (SNVT) for BBWS Pemali-Juana Dam Development, I Gusti Ngurah Carya Andi Baskara, said that the Jragung Dam reduces the risk of flooding in downstream areas by 45 percent, potential as a Micro Hydro Power Plant with a capacity of 1,400 KW and development of tourist destinations. water and agrotourism. He said that in January 2023 the construction of the dam facilities and the Dam Management Unit (UPB) office would begin. "Near the access road to the dam, a botanical garden spot will be made which is open to local residents and will involve the local community/residents to plant fruit trees in the green area of the dam so that residents get other benefits from the existence of the Jragung Dam," said Andi.
