Beginning in 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture is Ready to Accelerate Farmer Regeneration in Kalimantan

With the increasing number of young people working in the agricultural sector, the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) through the Agency for Extension and Development of Agricultural Human Resources (BPPSDMP) with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is intensively conducting outreach to introduce the Youth Entrepreneurship and Employment Support Services (YESS) program. ).
BANJARBARU, koranbanjar.net – Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo further said on several occasions that the Ministry of Agriculture would continue to facilitate the younger generation so that they could become farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs.
"We facilitate them, we increase their knowledge and abilities through training. We take advantage of technology, agricultural machinery, networking and marketing networks. We change the mindset of the younger generation that agriculture is cool, great, and the only promising sector, especially in the midst of this pandemic," explained Minister of Agriculture Syahrul.


The Head of the Agricultural Human Resources Extension and Development Agency (BPPSDMP) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Dedi Nursyamsi, explained the two main keys in implementing the YESS program.
"First, the YESS program is here to increase the capacity of youth in rural areas through education and training to become agents of agricultural development. Second, the target of the YESS program is that youth/girls must have an entrepreneurial spirit from upstream to downstream," said Dedi.
As is well known, the YESS program is implemented in 4 provinces in Indonesia, including West Java, East Java, South Sulawesi and South Kalimantan. It has been running since 2019, targeted for 2025.


SMK PP Negeri Banjarbaru, as the South Kalimantan Provincial Project Implementation Unit (PPIU), which at the beginning of 2022 will again hold a coordination meeting for the implementation of YESS Program activities in 2023.
So it is necessary to prepare for the implementation of farmer regeneration through the YESS Program which is carried out in the meeting room of the SMK-PP Negeri Banjarbaru, Wednesday (04/01/2023). Present on this occasion were the Head of SMK-PP N Banjarbaru, the South Kalimantan PPIU Project Manager, the Deputy for Fields, the Head of Components, and the South Kalimantan PPIU secretariat staff.


Opened by the South Kalimantan PPIU Project Manager, Angga Tri Aditia Permana, explained that this activity was a technical meeting and escort of the YESS Program activities which would be carried out for each component, as well as an explanation by the team in the South Kalimantan PPIU YESS Program in 2023.
The Head of SMK-PP N Banjarbaru, Budi Santoso, explained that our performance is among the best among the existing PPIUs, because our budget realization for the YESS Program PHLN reached 99.69%, so achievements in 2022 will be maintained in 2023.
"We must be prepared for the implementation of the YESS Program in 2023, hopefully the achievements in 2022 will be maintained in 2023, where our work is extraordinary with a limited number of employees. And we have to be prepared because this year is approaching the political year, so we have to be more careful," explained the Principal.


Added the Principal who is also in charge of the YESS Program in South Kalimantan adding, "In 2023 we will continue to maintain enthusiasm and continue to improve it, and we must also protect our health, because the challenges of farmer regeneration activities are extraordinary, I'm sure we can do it," he concluded
Adding that the YESS Program consists of various activities for rural youth aged 19 to 29 years, where the activities include Competitive Grants, Growth of Young Agricultural Entrepreneurs (PWMP), Training, and Certified Apprenticeships.
