Even though the economy is not yet normal after being hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Bumi Arema are still growing. This can be seen from the number of products exported. Within a year, 2022, the export value of MSMEs in Malang Raya will exceed IDR 8.023 trillion. In detail, around IDR 8 trillion from Malang Regency, IDR 17.5 billion from Batu City, and the remaining around IDR 5.8 billion from Malang City. In Malang Regency, until the realization of exports until the third quarter of 2022 reached IDR 6.2 trillion. However, by the end of 2022 it is predicted to reach IDR 8 trillion. For products that dominate exports are marine products, namely shrimp. "The export value of shrimp reached USD 125.7 million or IDR 1.8 trillion. This is the highest among the top 10 export contributors," said the Head of the Malang District Industry and Trade Agency, Mahila Surya Dewi, yesterday (7/1). Data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) for Malang Regency shows that the contribution of fisheries to gross regional domestic product is also large. The value reaches IDR 15.8 trillion for the agricultural and forestry fisheries sector. In more detail, the Malang Regency Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service (DPK) noted that the transaction value of marine products is relatively large. Namely Rp. 300 billion with a production capacity of 17 thousand tons.
With this description of value, Mahila said that the main export force is marine production. “In fact, the export product in the tenth rank is seaweed. The transaction value is around USD 3.71 million,” he added. In 2023, Mahila predicts that export capacity will increase. This is because the pandemic has been steadily decreasing since the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) was lifted by President Joko Widodo in early January. It is also believed that the shadow of a recession this year will be dampened by the real sector's economic performance. The owner of CV Riang Java Food Yosea Suryo Widodo agrees with this. He is an MSME-level exporter that sends cassava-based traditional foods. Namely gatot, tiwul to rambak crackers made from cassava. The product is made in Pagak, Malang Regency. “In mid-2022, we started walking again. Each delivery 500-1000 pieces. One pack contains 400 grams, targeting Malaysia and Hong Kong shipments," he said. ”However, now cassava crackers have a much faster export cycle. We send it every week, one shipment of 1000-2000 pieces," he added. He believes this year's export conditions will run normally as before the pandemic. Export-subscribing countries are also said to have stopped the Covid-19 restrictions. “2023 must look at the global market first. But it looks like it will rise again," he said. Meanwhile, in Batu City, exports have increased dramatically in 2022. In 2021, Batu City's export value was only around IDR 6 billion. A year later, namely 2022, the figure will increase dramatically to IDR 17.5 billion. The majority are from the MSME sector. The Head of the Trade Office for Cooperatives, Micro Enterprises and Trade (Diskumdag) of Batu City, Nurbianto, stated that in 2022 there will also be a shift in commodities contributing to the highest export figures. From ornamental plants to snacks. “The highest export commodity is snacks such as chips. Then followed by ornamental plants, “he explained. Nurbianto explained, actually it is not only processed chips that are experiencing an increasing trend of exports. In general, he said, all commodity export figures increased in 2022. However, processed chips are the most dominating. "This increase is due to the loosening of export restrictions. In 2021, there were many restrictions that caused exports to decline," he explained. Meanwhile, this year, Nurbianto targets an even bigger increase. Estimated to be IDR 20 billion. "Hopefully this year there will be new regulations to facilitate exports," he said. "We are trying to recruit more MSME actors, so that more commodities can be exported abroad," added the echelon II B official of the Batu City Government. Likewise in Malang City, MSME products exported have also increased. The Malang City Office of Cooperatives, Industry and Trade (Diskopindag) revealed that the export value in 2021 was around IDR 1.3 billion. A year later, it increased drastically to IDR 5.8 billion.
