Mangoes from West Java are ready to enter the market in Japan

Mangoes from West Java are ready to enter the Japanese market soon after research results found no fruit flies on the fruit. This was disclosed by the Head of the Agricultural Quarantine Agency (Barantan) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Bambang.
"Currently, the technical obstacle for mangoes from West Java entering the Japanese market is that there is an export protocol for the destination country that requires the fruit fly to be free of pests," said Bambang.
"With the results of this encouraging research, gedong lipstick mango is ready to enter the Japanese market," he continued.

Reporting from ANTARA on Thursday (5/1/2023), the results of a study by the West Java Development Institute, Padjadjaran University (Injabar Unpad) stated that fruit flies of the Bactrocera occipitalis type were not found in mangoes of the Gedong Gincu variety from Sumedang, West Java.
Therefore, Barantan immediately followed up the harmonization of technical regulations with Japan. So that the acceleration of exports of mangoes from West Java can be realized immediately.
"We immediately sent an official letter to Japan stating that there was no Bactrocera occipitalis in the mango (gedong, red)," he said in a written statement.
The signing of the collaboration between the Head of the Center for Plant Quarantine and Biosafety, Dr. A.M. Adnan with the Main Director of Injabar Prof. Keri Lestari regarding Assistance and Development of Export Quality Tropical Fruits in West Java, is a follow-up to the memorandum of understanding agreed between the Head of Barantan and the Chancellor of Padjadjaran University.
