The export value of mangosteen from Bali to China reached IDR 3.3 billion in December 2022. This achievement is a sign that exports are increasing again after two years of being slumped due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Head of Denpasar Class I Agricultural Quarantine Center I Putu Terunanegara said that the export of fruit commodities, especially mangosteen to China, was starting to be seen.
"December (2022) is the beginning of the return to the existence of fruit on the international market, especially to China," said Terunanegara
He mentioned specifically for Bali mangosteen, Denpasar Quarantine officers had inspected as many as 53.7 tons of mangosteen fruit with an export value of IDR 3.3 billion to China, and these commodities had been cleaned and packaged at a mangosteen packing house registered by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic. of China (GACC).
"Inspection of the mangosteen includes pests targeting the destination country in accordance with the mangosteen export protocol to China as well as the traceability of the mangosteen commodity," he added.
After being declared clean and healthy and no pests were found. Then a phytosanitary certificate was issued in accordance with the provisions in the mangosteen export protocol to China.
"This is a good start for the revival of mangosteen exports to China after a long stagnation. Hopefully in 2023 mangosteen exports to China will increase and can prosper horticultural agriculture in Bali Province," he said.
