Exports of Fishery Products Translucent to 172 Countries

The Head of the Fish Quarantine Agency, Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products (BKIPM), Pamuji Lestari explained the traceability certification activities for the quality of marine and fishery products reached 230 fish processing units (UPI) and critical control point certification (HACCP) as of November 2022. The number of certification achievements is higher than in 2021, with a total of 191 traceability certificates and 2,406 HACCP certificates.
The increase in certification  has an impact on the acceptance of Indonesian fishery products by 172 countries in 2022. The increase in UPI and HACCP certification also proves that Indonesian fisheries business actors are increasingly improving product quality by implementing an international standard fish processing system. This is in line with BKIPM's program and support for business actors by carrying out the function of quality assurance for fishery products," said the figure who is familiarly called Tari after delivering his year-end reflections, in Jakarta. As a result, BKIPM made an export breakthrough to Saudi Arabia which is expected to meet the needs of fishery products for haj and umroh pilgrims.

Apart from that, KKP through BKIPM also made Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRA) or agreements with the competent authorities of a number of countries such as the European Union, South Korea, China, Russia, Canada, Vietnam, Norway and Saudi Arabia. BKIPM's work has also been increasingly recognized after carrying out a Regulatory Partership Agreement (RPA) with the Food Drug Administration (FDA) in order to secure and expand shrimp exports to the United States (US). As a result, out of 127,787 export frequencies, there were only 8 cases of rejection (0.006%) during 2022. "Of course, we do this so that Indonesian products are increasingly recognized for their quality while at the same time preventing possible barriers to exports to these countries," said Tari.
Meanwhile in terms of mitigating fish resources (SDI) in Indonesia from Quarantine Fish Pests and Diseases (HPIK), out of 47 BKIPM Technical Implementation Units (UPT) as many as 31 BKIPM UPTs have taken action against 105 quarantine violations. With commodities of lobster, crab, ornamental fish, and processed fish products. Tari said HPIK could be dangerous for cultivators and trigger economic losses of around 115.9 billion in 2022. "Not only guarding products for export, we also guard SDI from the possibility of HPIK," said Tari.
From the service side, BKIPM contributes to the National Corruption Prevention Strategy (Stranas PK) in implementing the Single Submission Custom Quarantine (SSM QC) System in 14 ports throughout Indonesia. This service has reduced time by up to 21.39% with an estimated decrease in additional fees and withdrawal/check fees from June 2020 to August 2022 of IDR 161.44 billion or 33.66%.
"We also carry out remote audits as a form of convenience and acceleration of service, a total of 22,193 remote audits and inspections were carried out by 24 UPT BKIPM," said Tari.
Application of the Health Certificate for Fish and Domestic Fishery Products (e-SKIPP) which is an innovation for the BKIPM certification service by changing printed certificates to electronic certificates. The e-SKIPP innovation can also save the State Budget of 600 million/year which has been used to print Domestic Fish Health Certificates.

Therefore, Tari appealed to his staff to continue to maintain the positive performance of BKIPM that has been achieved in 2022. "Hopefully this will be a motivation to continue to do more in the coming years," explained Tari.
Then on the service side, BKIPM carries out digital transformation to support performance while facilitating public services. The innovations produced include online services at 46 UPTs and 273 work areas through an integrated online quarantine information system (Sisterkaroline).
In the end, Indonesian fishery products have a higher selling value because shipping costs are cheaper and delivery times are faster.
Previously, the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said that the implementation of KP Ministerial Regulation No. 11 of 2019 concerning the Import of Carrier Media and/or Fishery Products has had a positive impact with the results that 35 countries have implemented a Health Certificate (HC) according to the Ministerial Regulation. this illustrates that partner countries have recognized the Fish Resources Protection System (SDI) from fish pests and diseases as well as fulfilling fishery product quality requirements applied in Indonesia.
