Pocketing IDR 26.82 Trillion of Foreign Capital, Ganjar Pranowo Opens Opportunities to Attract Foreign Investors in 2023

Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo is exploring opportunities to attract more foreign investors in 2023. This was done by Ganjar after successfully obtaining IDR 26.82 Foreign Investment (PMA) until the third quarter of 2022. Ganjar said that his party had communicated with the Ambassador of Mexico and Germany to discuss the investment opportunity. Not only that, Ganjar also sees investment opportunities from African countries. "The Mexican Ambassador contacted me to talk to us, it's a bit far away, but we'll try it. And then African countries. So we'll try to work on the existing potentials, our MSMEs in Africa are okay. We can try that," said Ganjar at the Gradhika Building Bhakti Praja, Semarang City, Central Java, Monday (2/1/2023). "Our ambassador in Germany also called yesterday and I will bring a group from Germany to sell it. Germany also has high technology, for example, green energy, that can be done," he continued.

Ganjar further explained that Central Java is targeting 'untraditional' investments by attracting Mexican and African investors. Ganjar said, the presence of new investors will strengthen investment realization from existing ones. Nevertheless, the regional head from the PDIP said that his party would still maintain foreign investment that had entered Central Java. Ganjar said that his party also continues to try to maximize investment realization by attracting domestic investors. "In 2023 we will prepare it so that we can boost it again with a higher target because with investment coming in, then the economy can grow, spending can also increase, of course the growth will automatically be good, labor absorption will be good," he said. Ganjar believes Central Java can attract a lot of investment from within and outside the country with a large target market. Ganjar hopes that the large amount of incoming investment will make the economy grow and progress. "Make no mistake, it's not only investment from abroad, there are also many domestic ones. Remember, our market is big. If we only want to produce for our own needs, then that actually has a very good growth potential," he said. For information, investment realization in Central Java until the 3rd quarter amounted to IDR 44.99 trillion, consisting of IDR 26.82 trillion of FDI and IDR 18.17 trillion of Domestic Investment (PMDN). This achievement was also followed by the absorption of a workforce of 170,757 people with a total of 14,704 project units.
