The Ministry of Maritime Affairs Encourages Karawang Fish Marketers to Penetrate the Export Market

Java Province, to be able to export their products abroad. To achieve this goal, KKP will promote quality improvement along the supply chain as well as pollution prevention and waste handling. This was raised during a working visit by Commission IV DPR RI and KKP to visit fish processing businesses in North Cicinde, Karawang Regency, West Java Province on Wednesday (14/12/2022). "We need to encourage this business that is included in the MSME category because after all this is what the environment needs to pay attention to, don't let the quality produced be unable to compete," said the Director General of Marine and Fisheries Resources Supervision (PSDKP), Laksda Adin Nurawaluddin when at the visit site.

In the same place, Logistics Director, Berny A Subki representing Plt. The Director General for Strengthening the Competitiveness of Maritime and Fishery Products (PDSPKP) said that the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries pays close attention to the dialogue and direct aspirations of prospective MSMEs. Berny said that taking sides with local fish is very important considering that in Cicinde there are 926 pemindang consisting of 42 groups. The total production of pindang fish in this area reaches 565 tonnes per month and is marketed to Karawang and Subang. "We are very proud of the choice of North Cicinde, because 1800-3000 people are absorbed from boiled fish alone," said Berny. In front of business actors, Berny asked them to maintain quality throughout the supply chain. He hopes that one day the pindang fish from Cicinde can penetrate the export market.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of Commission IV of the DPR, Dedi Mulyadi, admitted that he had identified the problem of resettlement in North Cicinde. Starting with the disposal of fish pens, he will coordinate with the Ministry of Forestry and the Environment so that a waste disposal site will be made immediately using a pipe system to the homes. "So there will be no more disposal of waste water into sewers," he said. The next point is related to the damaged fish transport car, which will be coordinated by Commission IV of the Republic of Indonesia DPR RI with the KKP.

The goal is that the quality of the fish does not decrease when it is distributed to a number of areas. Finally, strengthening in terms of financial literacy. "This is a capital problem," explained Dedy. Previously, the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said that the existence of MSMEs had been proven to support the country's economic resilience in the midst of a pandemic. For this reason, efforts must continue to be made to increase not only in terms of quantity, but in terms of the quality of fishery products produced in order to boost export performance. For information, one of the raw material suppliers visited was Pak Jono's PD Tia Putra Jaya. His business already has cold storage with a capacity of 100 tons which supplies flying fish, salmon, tuna/skip skipjack, lemuru and milkfish as raw materials for pickling in Cicinde. So far, raw materials have been obtained from Muara Baru-Muara Angke Jakarta, Dadap Tangerang, Bitung, Sibolga and Juwana Pati.
