Ministry of Agriculture Formed Agricultural Instrument Standardization Agency

The Ministry of Agriculture formed the Agricultural Instrument Standardization Agency (BSIP) as a new institution to replace the Agricultural Research and Development Agency (Balitbangtan) which was merged with the National Innovation Research Agency (BRIN).
 
Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo stated that the transformation from Balitbangtan to BSIP changed the tasks and functions that previously focused on agricultural research and development to standardize agricultural instruments. modern. The R&D (Agency) has indeed been completed, but the agricultural instruments (BSIP) must be better than before," said the Minister of Agriculture in his statement in Jakarta, Tuesday. BSIP, which was launched on December 16, 2022, was formed in accordance with the issuance of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) 117 of 2022 concerning the Ministry of Agriculture on September 21, 2022. According to him, the agricultural sector is the sector most needed by the world community, therefore agriculture is unlikely to be able to develop with good if there is no R & D and agricultural instruments to guard it. In fact, he added, agriculture is the most strategic sector for the defense of a nation. "That's why we are launching agricultural instruments to go to an important process in our journey to build agriculture," he said. The presence of BSIP, according to the Minister of Agriculture, can be a very strong capital in making agriculture a definite solution to various world problems. Head of the Ministry of Agriculture's BSIP Fadjry Djufry emphasized that the government's commitment to realizing advanced, independent and modern agriculture is one of them through the Agrostandard program. "We have launched various steps in the agrostandard program, starting from strengthening institutions, strengthening collaboration with partners, to managing standardized seed or seed production," he said. Fadjry added that the agrostandard program includes five things, namely transformation and reorientation of management both institutionally, human resources, work culture and digital. Strengthening multi-partner collaboration both internally (Directorate General of the Ministry of Agriculture) and externally (universities, local governments, MSMEs, business actors, farmers, private sector, and international partners).
