The Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI) cooperates with the Group CEO of Standard Chartered Bank. LPEI Executive Director Riyani Tirtoso said the meeting with Standard Chartered Bank Group Chief Executive Officer Bill Winters was to encourage national exports. "Standard Chartered's business collaboration with LPEI has been going on since LPEI was founded, in the areas of cash, trade and treasury solutions, as well as funding solutions through the capital market, syndicated loans and bilateral loans. On this occasion, LPEI conveyed several potential business collaborations that could be carried out with Standard Chartered, including overseas projects related to insurance and commercial guarantees, export and import funding, as well as sharing experiences in the area of Environmental Social Governance (ESG). "LPEI also has the opportunity to collaborate with Standard Chartered in developing capacity and products related to trade credit insurance, insurance business and knowledge sharing in the ESG field. A number of initiatives that have been started by LPEI refer to environmental, social and governance indicators in line with efforts to realize the Sustainable Development Goals, he said.
Meanwhile, Bill appreciated the role of LPEI in supporting Indonesia's export activities. He said that Standard Chartered would continue to support LPEI in carrying out its function as an Indonesian export credit agency (ECA), and hoped to remain a strategic partner of LPEI in carrying out its mandate. Bill, who is also the co-chair for the B20 Finance and Infrastructure Task Force, specifically pays attention to capital for developing countries with a focus on sustainability while continuing to support the expansion of infrastructure and social needs. LPEI also explained about community development programs and women's empowerment which were realized, among others, through the Foreign Exchange Village Program, training for prospective exporters in the Coaching Program for New Exporters (CPNE) program, as well as the development of export-oriented SMEs.
