The Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Basuki Hadimuljono, met with a delegation of 12 Japanese investors who were interested in investing in the Indonesian National Capital (IKN). Basuki explained that the meeting was a follow-up to the statement of interest in investing in IKN Nusantara submitted by the Japanese Government through the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC). During the meeting, the Minister of PUPR said that the Indonesian government has currently carried out basic infrastructure development in basic IKNs such as road access, raw water supply through the construction of the Sepaku Dam, preparation of ready-to-build land (land development) and others. He explained, the development of IKN is not just moving government offices, but also to change the way of work in facilitating activities. "Investors should not hesitate in obtaining permits for the construction of the IKN. I see that the company representatives who were present this afternoon are very relevant to the construction of the IKN," said Basuki in a written statement, Wednesday (30/11/2022). Regarding investor participation, he continued, the Government of Indonesia expects foreign investors to be involved, for example in building hospitals, schools, markets and other infrastructure.
"It is planned that in the 3rd quarter of 2023 the President will meet with IKN investors who are interested and determine which part of the IKN will participate in the development in detail," said the PUPR Minister. Main Adviser to the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Hiroto Izumi said, the 12 large companies that met were those engaged in infrastructure development with their respective specializations. "Relocating IKN in Indonesia is a hot topic for us in Japan, we look forward to the follow-up from today's meeting," said Hiroto Izumi.
