Tens of thousands of day old chicks (DOC) were exported to Singapore, Monday (28/11). A strict process was carried out by the Surabaya Agriculture Quarantine Center (BBKP). In addition to adding to foreign exchange, these exports can overcome excess DOC in the country. In total there were 85,850 chicks exported. All types are laying. Delivery is not easy. BBKP must ensure thousands of DOC are free from disease. Especially from poultry diseases that are transmitted to humans. "The conditions for passing are indeed very strict," said Head of the Central Agricultural Quarantine Agency (BKP) Bambang yesterday. The strict process aims to guarantee the quality of the exported products. The inspection was carried out several months ago. The broodstock and the environment determine whether or not the requirements are passed. "There are high standards to be accepted in Singapore," said Bambang.
Exports worth IDR 1.4 billion were sent through the Juanda Airport Cargo Terminal. According to Bambang, these exports answer the problem of excess DOC in Indonesia. “Because, it turns out that the DOC export market is very high, so it gives enthusiasm to breeders. Especially to increase the production of chicken eggs,” he continued. BBKP coordinates with all lines. Both at the port and airport. The hope is to encourage investment or exports. Mainly livestock and agriculture. This is because Indonesia has strong potential to export. President Director of PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia (CPI) Tbk Tjiu Thomas Effendy said, through his subsidiary PT Charoen Pokphand Jaya Farm (CPJF), five containers containing chicks were sent to Singapore. Arriving at the destination, quarantine checks are carried out for 10 days. The goal is to make sure everything is safe. ''Hopefully all pass because it meets the requirements,'' he explained. According to him, demand for DOC is still high. The challenge is only in the examination to pass. The plan is that in December there will also be another export of chicks to Singapore and East Leste. “It needs support from all relevant stakeholders,” he explained.
