Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan said investment in human resources (HR) and infrastructure as well as structural and business climate reforms are driving high, competitive and sustainable economic growth in the Asian region. "Asia has indeed become a new magnet for world economic growth. Until 2045, global trade is estimated to grow 3.4% per year with developing countries as the axis of world trade and investment with growth of 6% per year," the Trade Minister said as quoted by Antara, Jakarta, Tuesday (29/11/2022). In addressing the increasing role of the Asian economy, continued Zulkifli, Indonesia also cannot deny the massive developments in information technology, biotechnology and genetic engineering, health and medicine, renewable energy, wearable devices, automation and robotics, and artificial intelligence. On November 15, 2022, a UN report estimates that the world's population has reached 8 billion people.
The world's population growth has never been as fast as it is today. This is due, among other things, to the improving health and nutrition conditions of the world community. "In 2045, when Indonesia will reach 100 years of independence, the world's population is estimated to reach 9.45 billion, an increase of 1.45 billion from 2022. At that time, more than half of the world's population growth will be contributed by the African and Asian regions," he said. Zulkifli. In terms of global output, developing countries are expected to contribute up to 71% of total world output in 2050, with Asia as the main driver which reaches 54%. Investment in human resources and infrastructure as well as structural reforms and business climate encourage high, competitive and sustainable economic growth in the Asian region. Zulkifli added, the development of human resources who have broad insights and are future-oriented is needed to complement the capabilities of leaders who adhere to the noble values of the nation's culture.
