Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno offered West Java's tourism potential before 92 delegates who attended the opening of the Regional Government Congress of East Asia at Gedung Sate, Bandung City, West Java, Wednesday (23/11/2022) evening. Sandiaga explained to the delegation that West Java is an area with great tourism potential. He noted, in 2019, tourist visits in West Java reached nearly 50 million people. However, all economic sectors were paralyzed during the pandemic. "West Java was a tourist destination before the pandemic. Nearly 50 million tourists in 2019. However, these two years have been very hard for us," said Sandiaga. With the pandemic conditions starting to improve, Sandiaga is also optimistic that tourism in West Java can revive. In fact, Sandiaga offered the delegates to visit Alamendah, one of the agronomic tourism villages in Bandung Regency which has an attraction for tourists. "You can try Alamendah, where you will get a comfortable atmosphere and delicious culinary delights," he said. "We are confident in the natural wealth, culture and local products in West Java. The batik we wear, the coffee provided, West Java culinary specialties and many other economic attractions can soon rise," he added.
In addition, Sandiaga hopes that the congress can create intergovernmental cooperation to help create new jobs for the community. "So if we look at those that directly interact with residents at the regional and local levels. We are targeting the creation of 1.1 million new jobs. West Java is a locomotive for national economic growth," he explained. Sandiaga explained that this series of activities was in line with the vision of post-pandemic economic revival that was echoed at the G20 forum a few weeks ago in Bali. "We hope that there will be many benefits from this event, later we will use it for our revival," he explained.
