Along with economic growth, industrial growth, and population growth, of course, a reliable and sufficient supply of electricity is very important to be provided as a support for the community's economic and social activities. Thus, the development of electricity infrastructure starting from generation, transmission, to distribution will continue to be carried out by the Government by involving the role of BUMN, the private sector, and the community. The government continues to encourage increased use of domestic products in various electricity infrastructure development projects. Therefore, the Government gradually continues to encourage domestic producers to be able to contribute to meeting the demand for goods/services in the electricity sector. The main components of electricity that previously could only be imported, can now be produced domestically. The spending budget that previously flowed abroad, is now encouraged to flow and rotate within the country. Small and Medium Enterprises and Small and Medium Enterprises, which used to be mere spectators, can now be directly involved as part of the electricity industry supply chain. Technicians and experts who used to come from foreigners, are now encouraged to come from local technicians and experts. "We need to push it so that national production can really support the big challenges in electricity infrastructure. Everything needs machines, tools, and equipment. Especially now that Indonesia is carrying out an energy transition which will shape many changes in the electricity sector," said the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto. He said this when delivering his directions at the opening of the PLN Locomotion 2022 themed "Building Synergy of Local Content for Indonesia Future Energy" which was held by PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) Persero at the Jakarta Convention Center, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (23/11/2022).
The Coordinating Minister for Airlangga started the activity by visiting the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) exhibition which brought together local business people with the target market, through exhibitions, discussions, and collaborations, which aim to encourage the improvement of local product ecosystems and build synergies between agencies and producers, as well as local MSMEs. The government appreciates PLN's efforts to achieve TKDN above this year's target, which is 49% of the target of 42%. The Coordinating Minister for Airlangga hopes that TKDN can continue to be encouraged and improved. If it is consistent that half of it is a domestic component, then the energy transition implemented by PLN in the future could be a driving force for the emergence of new national industries and economies. Increasing domestic products in the electricity sector is a common challenge. The level of domestic components continues to be pursued to achieve the target, towards 2024 it is hoped that the TKDN will reach a minimum of 50%. Of course this requires a strong commitment from all parties.
The Coordinating Minister for Airlangga also said that this TKDN should not just become a jargon. This is a national movement, a gotong royong movement. With this TKDN, the Government encourages product components to be worked on by domestic human resources. Materials and the use of equipment must also be from within the country. So this is what is called TKDN, not just the brand, but the content that can move the wheels of the national economy. "Hopefully this event can be an impetus, trigger and encouragement, that Indonesia can become independent and Indonesia will become the green energy of the world. At least, at the ASEAN level, I'm sure we will be the champions. And of course we become champions with strong local content or import substitution," he concluded. On this occasion the Coordinating Minister for Airlangga also led the procession for opening the PLN Locomotion 2022. Then, accompanied by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, represented by Plt. Director General of Electricity Dadan Kusdiana and Main Director of PT PLN Persero Darmawan Prasodjo, Coordinating Minister for Airlangga also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for Strategic Cooperation in the Supply Chain of Electricity Components and Electricity Development Plans, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding for the Development and Use of Domestic Products in the Electricity Sector.
