The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, is preparing activities to improve the Infrastructure for the Prosperous Ocean Coral Reef Area (Insan Terang Lautra), in order to support the blue economy program by increasing the area of conservation areas. Secretary of the Directorate General of Marine Spatial Management (Sesditjen PRL), Hendra Yusran Siry said this activity was to improve the quality of conservation area management according to the KKP's priority program. Later, the Bright Lautra People will be effective in mid-2023. "The Bright Lautra People project will be implemented in Zone 3 and the supporting conservation areas for Zone 3 which are spread across 15 Conservation Areas in 10 Provinces. Covering West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Maluku, North Maluku, West Papua, Papua and 3 WPPNRI 714, 715 and 718," said Hendra in his statement, Sunday (20/11/2022).
Furthermore, Hendra said, Insan Terang Lautra, is intended for the management of conservation areas that have marine and fishery resources. Such as coral reef ecosystems, seagrass beds and biodiversity in a sustainable manner to improve the welfare of coastal communities. Finally, Hendra hopes that the activities of Insan Terang Lautra can improve coral reef management and the effectiveness of conservation area management. "Supporting sustainable fisheries and the livelihoods of coastal communities through increasing the area of conservation areas, strengthening conservation and fisheries infrastructure, strengthening community economic infrastructure, capacity building and sustainable funding," he stressed. The Terang Lautra Insan is carried out in line with the policy of the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono through 5 KKP priority programs that support the blue economy. First, expansion of marine conservation, second, quota-based measured fish catch. Third, management of marine, coastal and inland aquaculture, Fourth, sustainable management of coasts and small islands, and finally management of plastic waste in the sea.
