The G20 and B20 presidencies in Bali, Indonesia, will provide many benefits for the national economy. The event, which involves the strongest economic countries in the world, invites all present to collaborate to overcome current problems. Indonesia as the host as well as the country with the fourth largest population in the world must have an active role and make a significant contribution there. Deputy Chairperson II for Economic Affairs at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Franky Oesman Widjaja said that the implementation of the G20 and B20 in Bali is a momentum to show the world that Indonesia is a big country. With its potential, Indonesia is facing the status of a developed country in 2045, exactly 100 years of independence. "Hopefully the G20 and B20 can involve more countries so that together we grow stronger, progress and of course for Indonesia this is a golden opportunity to embrace all stakeholders not only domestically but also abroad. So that Indonesia can become a destination for investment, that's what we expect," Franky said in a written statement.
Franky, who is also a Sinar Mas Board Member, explained that currently the world is facing various challenges, starting from the energy transition, as well as the threat of various crises such as the economy, food, health, and other problems. Therefore, the MSME development model in Indonesia that is currently running is expected to be stronger and more widespread, so that it can become a world reference. This is because MSMEs in Indonesia play a crucial role, contributing 60%-70% to GDP and being able to absorb up to 80%-90% of the workforce. With this potential, not only will they become a foundation when facing a global economic pandemic and recession, MSMEs can also bring Indonesia even further forward. "MSMEs are our foundation and we also have to embrace it, at Kadin we on October 3, 2022 invited President Jokowi to open and launch the Inclusive Partnership Movement for MSMEs to upgrade," he said. This model of collaboration and synergy between the government, the private sector and MSME players will open up opportunities for more MSMEs to upgrade with capital assistance, business assistance and market access. He said that after the pandemic, the business world experienced various problems, one of which was the supply of raw materials. But in the midst of these challenges, Franky invites business people to be optimistic and able to take chances. It has been proven that Indonesia was able to survive the pandemic and then recover faster than other countries. "Mr. President has inaugurated the Inclusive Partnership Movement for MSMEs to upgrade, this means they can access technology, access finance, market access, so they can enjoy a bigger market. But they must have assistance otherwise they will find it difficult to develop, there are many examples of assistance what we did and it proved successful," he said. In the future, he hopes that this movement will be more modular and systematic by involving more companies. This includes giving a business rating status, for example MSMEs that are good are blue, those that are quite good are green, they are still lacking in yellow and red whose status has not done anything.
For the status of UMKM in red, it is this that requires intensive assistance. Because usually they don't understand how to sell or market, so they need a module that suits their business and the area they operate. That way, the poverty alleviation program will be implemented more quickly. "If it's like that 1000% there are no poor people, this is very important. Our middle class is very important, if MSMEs are alive then Indonesia will really enter the 5th largest economy in 2045 according to economists' predictions," he said. On the same occasion, Kadin also invited South Korean President Yoon Suk-Yeol to give a speech at the B20 event. South Korea is a country that has been successful in developing the MSME industry, even channeling banking credit to the MSME sector has reached 81%. This experience is shared and will be developed in Indonesia so that the MSME sector will be more advanced.
