Fashion from Bogor Penetrates the Export Market, This is the Key

The Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI) or Indonesia Eximbank as the Ministry of Finance's Special Mission Vehicle plays a role in introducing export-oriented Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) products. Especially those who apply the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the world, through the Indonesian G20 Presidency which took place on 10-13 November 2022 at the Mulia Hotel, Nusa Dua Bali. On this occasion, LPEI presented the products of its export-oriented partners in a showcasing booth as a means of introducing its products to international audiences. As an MSME that continues to support the concept of sustainable products, Arae is present at the G20 show with fashion products. Such as outer, scarf, accessories and sashiko with a distinctive touch through the ecoprint technique. The ecoprint technique is a technique of transferring colors and leaf patterns to fabric through a process that involves nature and does not use chemicals. This local fashion product from Bogor, which was pioneered since 2018, continues to be consistent in utilizing recycled product waste materials to make clothes using natural materials and dyes. The goal is to protect and preserve the environment.

Not only focusing on environmental sustainability, the five founders of Arae also carry a noble mission to improve people's welfare. This is realized through the empowerment of craftsmen in Klaten in the production process where all empowered craftsmen are women. In addition, Arae is also committed to allocating 15% to 30% of the income earned to be distributed to social activities. One of them is in the form of awarding Arae Scholarships to students who do not have access to education. Due to the uniqueness and attractiveness of its products, Arae is able to generate a turnover of IDR 1.7 billion per year by producing 1,000 units annually. This success cannot be separated from the role of three weaving communities in Bayat, Klaten named Gigih Makarti, a youth community named Jannati Bogor and a community group of mothers who make upcycle products called Ambu Pasir Pari who have contributed to producing environmentally friendly products that can be recognized internationally. To increase the potential of its products so that it can upgrade and expand the global market, Arae participated in the 2021 Coaching Program for New Exporters (CPNE). The CPNE program is an LPEI effort to encourage national exports through providing training and mentoring to produce superior and competitive MSMEs in the global market.
