Culinary MSMEs to Indonesia's Leading Fashion Present at the G20 Bali Summit

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) make a large contribution to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of up to 61%. Its existence is also able to absorb 97% of the total workforce. At the G20 event in November, MSMEs assisted by the Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI) or Indonesia Eximbank had the opportunity to showcase their products at an export-oriented product showcasing booth, in accordance with the criteria for the Healthy Food & Sustainable Product theme. This opportunity is given as a means for MSMEs to introduce their products to an international audience. The exhibition will be held on 10-13 November 2022 at Hotel Mulia Nusa Dua Bali, followed by 10 MSMEs fostered by LPEI. LPEI Executive Director Riyani Tirtoso said he hoped that this exhibition could repeat the success of the exhibition at the G20 meeting in February and July 2022. "We will really take advantage of this G-20 moment as a means of expanding market access for fostered partners, especially for the international market. In addition, this moment is also important to introduce export-oriented MSME products and also adopt global local wisdom," said Riyani in written statement, Wednesday (9/11/2022).

This further confirms the LPEI's commitment as the Ministry of Finance's Special Mission Vehicle to take a more active role in introducing Indonesia's superior products to the world, especially to the international delegates who attended the G20 event. Not only that, continued Riyani, at the G20 financial and health sector meeting on November 10, LPEI will also present superior fostered partners from the culinary, fashion, and health and beauty sectors. Most of the fostered partners have penetrated the Asian market, there are even some who have succeeded in penetrating the European market, such as Mason Chocolate from Bali which has successfully penetrated the Dutch market, and CV Bali Ayu which has succeeded in penetrating the French, Italian and Dutch markets. "We deliberately present partners who have penetrated the Asian and even European markets, of course what is displayed will be an attraction for the delegates. Because indeed we have also helped expand access, including through the international marketplace, namely Alibaba, so there is potential for sustainable exports," he explained. A total of 10 MSMEs that passed the curation as exhibitors also brought the concept of being environmentally friendly and oriented towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in running their business. Riyani also mentioned Humbang Kriya SMEs from North Sumatra as one example. Humbang Kriya is consistent in implementing the concept of eco fashion and zero waste, besides that this LPEI fostered partner employs 60% of the female workforce. In the fashion sector, there is also the Naralia MSME which has won the Global Organic Textile Standard (Gots) certificate for raw materials for all products. "LPEI hopes that these 10 fostered partners will become motivation and inspiration for other MSMEs to continue to increase their capacity in facing the international market," he said.
