Indonesia is still the main investment destination in the Southeast Asia (ASEAN) region. In research conducted by Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company entitled e-Conomy SEA 2022 Report, this year Indonesia attracted 25% of the total value of Southeast Asian private funding. Deputy Head, Technology & Consumer and Southeast Asia, Temasek, Fock Wai Hoong explained, Indonesia remains a magnet for investors because it has strong fundamentals "Indonesia's digital economy will continue to attract investment because of its strong fundamentals, such as having a very active user base in large numbers and a dynamic technology startup ecosystem," said Fock Wai Hoong at a virtual press conference, Jakarta, Tuesday (8/11/2022). Even in the long term, Indonesia together with Vietnam and the Philippines remain attractive to investors. However, due to macroeconomic constraints, the transaction value in Semester I-2022 fell by USD 2 billion due to concerns about profitability and valuation. For information, digital financial services (especially those focused on B2B payments and loan services) have replaced the e-commerce sector as the top investment sector. In semester I-2022, the investment value has reached USD 1.5 billion. Across Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, more than 80% of venture capitalists (VCs) want to focus more on new sectors. Such as health technology (health tech), SaaS, and Web 3.0. Meanwhile, the education technology sector (ed tech) experienced a decline in post-pandemic as schools reopened. In this regard, Wai Hoong said his party will work closely with the business sector, government, and society to become a bridge for sustainable growth. So that digital economic inclusion is achieved for every community in Southeast Asia. "Temasek is committed to using our catalytic capital to drive sustainable and inclusive growth in Southeast Asia's digital economy so that every generation can prosper," he said.
