"We hope that West Kalimantan's durian potential can attract investors to invest in West Kalimantan. So it's not only palm oil. This durian festival is a momentum to introduce and promote that West Kalimantan has the best quality durians," said Anum, Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Currently West Kalimantan Anum said that he had released 12 varieties of superior Durian from West Kalimantan and were recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture. That's why, West Kalimantan Province is suitable to be developed with durian because considering the suitability and wide area of support. "We invite investors who want to grow durian. Now we continue to develop existing varieties and help durian farmer groups in almost every district/city," he said.
This effort continues to be developed in order to produce higher production. In addition, said Anum, this is an effort by the government to increase the income of farmers who are members of the Durian farmer group for fruit farming products in West Kalimantan. For the durian market itself, Anum admits that it is very wide open. Currently, the export of Durian paste has targeted China and Japan. However, durians that have this season are still having problems with production so that local needs have not been met. "Our orientation is actually exporting. In fact, we know that our durians have been exported in the form of pasta. Every season we have Durian exports. However, this export is still seasonal because it relies on uncultivated Durian. Demand is very high, this is a potential to invest in durian plants in Indonesia. West Kalimantan," he asked. Anum hopes that entrepreneurs or investors are interested in investing in durian in the form of a durian garden. "We are still looking for investors who want to invest in our area," he said.
