Semen Indonesia Earns IDR 1.6 Trillion Profit As Of September 2022

PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) announced the company's performance for the period January-September 2022. During these 9 months, the company posted a profit attributable to owners of the parent entity of IDR 1.65 trillion. As for September 2022, Semen Indonesia recorded a total revenue of IDR 25.28 trillion. Then, the cost of revenue is IDR 17.94 trillion, and EBITDA is IDR 5.73 trillion. Semen Indonesia Group Corporate Secretary Vita Mahreyni said, in the early 9 months of 2022, SIG consistently managed to record an increase in company performance amidst the challenges of high industrial competition, as well as rising fuel and energy prices. Absolute EBITDA was 0.6% higher to IDR 5.73 trillion and EBITDA margin increased 0.1% to 22.7%. Net profit for the year attributable to owners of the parent company increased 18.9% to IDR 1.65 trillion, and net profit margin increased 1.0% to 6.5% compared to last year. "In the midst of various challenges and changes that occur, GIS has consistently focused on topline management strategies through a multibrand approach to optimize profitability margins with a dominant market share," said Vita in a written report, Wednesday (2/11/2022). The company is also said to be continuously controlling costs to achieve operational excellence through optimizing production and distribution networks, as well as implementing sustainable development principles to achieve decarbonization targets by reducing the clinker factor and increasing the thermal substitution rate (TSR). According to her, resilience is not only based on business achievements, but also sustainable operations that become the company's competitiveness. As of September 2022, SIG has succeeded in reducing carbon emissions by up to 591 kg CO2 per tonne of cement, or a decrease of 2.1% (equivalent to 13 kg CO2 per ton cement). This was contributed by a 1% decrease in the clinker factor to 69.1%, and an increase in the Thermal Substitution Rate (TSR) by 1.6% to 7.1%. The company's commitment to decarbonization efforts is also reflected in the Sustainability Framework which is a reference for funding support for the implementation of various corporate sustainability initiatives. In a series of SOE International Conference events organized by the Ministry of SOEs, SIG together with seven SOEs namely PT Bureau of Classification Indonesia (Persero), PT Pertamina (Persero), Perum Perhutani, PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero), PT Indonesia Asahan Alumunium (Persero), PT Perkabunan Nusantara III (Persero), and Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) signed a Letter of Intent regarding the Carbon Trading Pilot Project on the Voluntary Carbon Market of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (VCM BUMN). "The aim is to support the establishment of carbon trading capabilities and pilot projects within the BUMN environment by taking into account technical, economic, regulatory and other applicable provisions," Vita concluded.

For this distribution, Semen Indonesia also managed to enter the top 10 state-owned companies that contributed 51.01% share dividends to the state, or IDR 522.34 billion. In addition, in August 2021, Semen Indonesia Group has established a strategic partnership with Taiheiyo Cement Corporation (TCC). "This partnership with a leading cement producer from Japan is one of the milestones in the transformation of GIS which will increase value and capability, as well as strengthen GIS position in the competition in the building materials industry in the region," he explained.
