The economic recovery in the tourism sector throughout 2022 has improved. This is reflected in the number of foreign tourist visits (tourists) which has an increasing trend from month to month. In September alone, the number of foreign tourist visits reached 538,300. This figure has increased by 5.50% (mtm) and 10 thousand times compared to 2021. "Tourist visits in September have continued to increase since January 2022. The number of visits has increased to 538 thousand tourists in September," said Deputy for Distribution Statistics and Services at BPS, Setianto at the BPS Building, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (1/11/2022). Based on the entrance, Setianto said that the highest number of foreign tourists visited was through the gate of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Denpasar-Bali. Foreign guests from the main door are dominated by tourists from Australia, France, England, Germany and the United States. "(They came) using a visit visa for 30 days," he said. Meanwhile, the next largest arrival gate is at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang-Banten. The tourists who enter through this door come from Malaysia, Singapore, China, South Korea, Japan and India. But cumulatively, during the month of September, the largest foreign tourist visits based on their country of origin are Australia, Singapore and Malaysia. Setianto said that if it was accumulated throughout 2022, from January to September there were 2.68 million foreign tourists visiting. This figure is much higher than the same period last year of 86,245 foreign tourist visits. In fact, throughout 2021 there were only 141,211 foreign tourists visiting. "We see a cumulative increase of 2,000% because the number of foreign tourists visiting the previous year was very small. Now there are 2 million foreign tourists visiting," he concluded.
