Member of Commission VIII for Religious Affairs of the House of Representatives (DPR) Matindas Y. Manurung said his party encouraged the use of digitalization in the service of making halal certification in Indonesia. According to him, this step is needed as an effort to accelerate the national economic recovery. "This (digitalization of halal certification) is needed to accelerate the recovery of the national economy. Because micro-enterprises can encourage the national economy," said Matindas in the 'Knowledge Sharing Self-Declare Halal Certification Service' activity with the Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH), Monday (10/31/2022). Digitalization is expected to facilitate certification by not ignoring the principles in its issuance. The three principles of halal certification are traceability, authentication, and a halal assurance system.
Moreover, according to him, Indonesia with a large Muslim population should be a pioneer in controlling the halal food and beverage (F&B) market in the world. "Indonesia as one of the countries with the largest Muslim population in the world should be a pioneer in controlling the food and beverage (F&B) market in the world," he concluded.
