The Riau Provincial Government is now continuing to encourage efforts to develop green economic investment in the mangrove and peat fields which are considered to be the prima donna of investment in the area. "This peat contributes to the largest reduction in carbon emissions in the world, and mangroves, in general, are the lungs of the world and the interest of investors to invest in the non-oil and gas commodity sector is quite high, so it must be encouraged," said the Governor of Riau Syamsuar in a statement in Pekanbaru, Sunday (10/30/2022). He said the high interest of investors to invest in the mangrove and peat sector was marked by several potential investors from Jakarta starting to look at the potential of Riau's natural resources. Syamsuar said that the Riau Provincial Government continues to strive to develop natural resources while remaining committed to preserving the environment through a green Riau program and a sustainable economy. "Currently the world is focused on developing sustainable economic programs so many investors are looking at Riau. Meanwhile, all countries in Europe expect Indonesia's support in efforts to reduce carbon emissions, through forest conservation and mangrove ecosystems," he said. Therefore, said Syamsuar again, the Riau area was given a blessing by God which may not be the same as other regions so the people of Riau need to protect this country because Riau is an area that produces everything, there are forests and mangrove ecosystems.
In addition to investors who are interested in mangroves and peat, Syamsuar said that he had been contacted by potential investors who wanted to make four-wheeled vehicles (cars) using hydrogen fuel that had been produced in England. "So the interest of national and international investors like this needs to be supported by prioritizing green economic development and a sustainable economy, while still encouraging the growth of the halal industry," he said. Syamsuar also said that he was contacted by potential investors from Surabaya to build a halal industrial area in Riau. The potential investors are investors who have invested in the Sidoarjo industrial area, East Java. "Hopefully Riau has a halal industrial area as expected by Vice President Jokowi during a working visit to Riau some time ago," he said. He explained that investment is one of the locomotives of national economic growth and regional economic growth which is needed in efforts to alleviate poverty and reduce unemployment. When investment grows, it will have a double impact on Riau and Indonesia.
