Riau Governor Syamsuar said that currently the interest of investors to invest in the green economy sector is quite high in Riau Province. Gubri said that some time ago he was contacted by potential investors from Jakarta who wanted to invest in mangroves and peat. "Because peat is the biggest contributor to carbon emission reduction in the world, and mangroves in general are the lungs of the world," he said, at the opening of the 2022 Riau Expo, took place at Prince Hotel Pekanbaru, Saturday (29/10/22) night. Syamsuar said Riau is a province that is committed to preserving the environment through the Green Riau program. "Right now, the world is focusing on a sustainable economy, that's why we are getting a lot of attention from investors," he said.
This number one person in Riau explained that all countries in Europe expect Indonesia's support in reducing carbon emissions, through forest conservation and mangrove ecosystems. "That's why I always say that Riau is blessed by God which may not be the same as other regions. Let's take care of this country because we are the producers of everything (there are forests and mangrove ecosystems)," he said. In addition to investors who are interested in mangroves and peat, Gubri admitted that he had also been contacted by potential investors who wanted to make cars using hydrogen fuel that had been produced in England. Gubri added that he was also contacted by potential investors from Surabaya who wanted to see Riau to build a halal industrial area in Riau. Datuk Seri Setia Amanah said the potential investors were investors who had already invested in the Sidoarjo industrial area, East Java. With the potential resources that Riau has, these potential investors want to invest and create a halal industrial area in Riau. According to Gubri, investment is one of the locomotives of national economic growth as well as regional economic growth and is of course expected to alleviate poverty and reduce unemployment.
