In the midst of uncertain world economic conditions, Indonesia is still an investment destination for national and global manufacturing industry players. This is from the realization of investment in the manufacturing industry sector which reached IDR 365.2 trillion during January-September 2022. “This achievement increased by 54% compared to the same period last year of IDR 236.8 trillion. The confidence of investors in this industrial sector must be maintained, which is supported by various policy strategies," said Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Tuesday (25/10). Referring to data from the Ministry of Investment/BKPM, in January-September 2022, the manufacturing industry sector contributed 40.9% to total investment which reached IDR 892.4 trillion. In theory, investment in Indonesia grew 35.3% (y-o-y), and over the past nine months it has managed to reach 74.4% of the target of IDR 1,200 trillion in 2022.
Meanwhile, domestic investment (PMDN) in the manufacturing industry sector amounted to IDR 104.9 trillion. The largest sub-sector is industry, which is worth IDR 38 trillion or 9.2% of the total realization of PMDN which reached IDR 413.1 trillion. Meanwhile, foreign investment (PMA) in the manufacturing industry sector reached IDR 260.3 trillion. The largest sub-sector is the basic metal industry, metal goods, non-machinery and equipment, which reached USD 8.5 billion or contributed 25.3% of the total realization of FDI which was at IDR 479.3 trillion. Therefore, the government focuses on creating a conducive business and investment climate by maintaining good economic and political sustainability in the country. Furthermore, according to President Joko Widodo's directives, industrial downstreaming is one of the keys to the progress of the Indonesian economy. This is because the downstream tax policy will contribute significantly to state revenue through royalties, non-tax state income (PNBP), and dividends. Still based on data from the Ministry of Investment/BKPM, in the third quarter of 2022, investment in the basic metal, non-machinery and equipment industrial sector reached IDR 44 trillion. This figure contributed the highest (14.3%) to the total investment in the third quarter of 2022 amounting to IDR 307.8 trillion.
