West Papua Province is the gateway to Indonesia's best sago production. This was conveyed by the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (Mentan SYL) while visiting the sago farming area in Manokwari, West Papua, Tuesday (25/10). According to SYL, sago is the main commodity of the Papuan people which has long been their staple food. "Sago is one of the things we will deal with, we will formulate its conception with the PLT Governor in a short time. Sago is an extraordinary gift from God and has existed for a long time, we must not leave it behind. This means that we eat rice, sago, cassava too," he said. SYL said that Papua Province should become Indonesia's agricultural locomotive because it has fertile areas and a variety of local commodities. This can later be prepared to meet national food needs. "Today I met and held a meeting with all of the regents to prepare Papua's food security, and of course contribute to national food security. I think our steps are in accordance with the President's order so that the agricultural sector can truly become the economic cushion and support life for the community. in the future," he said. According to SYL, the development of various agricultural commodities in the Papua region is also carried out on corn and other commodities which have been started several years ago. "In order to carry out activities and efforts to accelerate our agriculture, especially rice, corn and perhaps certain existing commodities. The governor is very enthusiastic and therefore I think this is a good sign for West Papua," he said.
