Following Erick Thohir's Directions, ID Food Collaborates with G20 Countries to Build a Food Ecosystem

Holding BUMN Food or ID Food will participate in developing the food ecosystem among G20 countries. This is also part of the matter mandated by the Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir. President Director of PT Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia or ID Food Frans Marganda Tambunan said that strengthening the food ecosystem in G20 countries could be a step to anticipate the food crisis. The way is to present an integrated food ecosystem from upstream to downstream. It has started to carry out a number of integrations. For example, by attracting farmers, ranchers, and fishermen. In terms of food production, his party participates in absorbing rice, corn, sugar, fish, Day old Chicken (DOC) production and cultivation, beef fattening, salt commodities, processing of processed food products, and food storage (cold storage). Meanwhile, on the downstream side of food, ID FOOD also manages the trade and logistics sectors as a commitment to maintaining food availability to meet community needs. "BUMN Holding Food ID FOOD is ready to collaborate to support the G20 to expand the food ecosystem," Frans said in his statement, Tuesday (10/25/2022). Frans continued that this was in line with what was mandated by the Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir, to work together to build an ecosystem in Indonesia. The steps are in collaboration with the central government, regional governments, institutions, ministries, the private sector, MSMEs, and farmers. Minister Erick also hopes that SOEs can play a role in the G20 event. "The potential for synergies between the food sector and the G20 in anticipation of the global food crisis is quite large, including the development of international market networks through strengthening food products and export opportunities such as exports of Indonesian fishery commodities," said Frans. Furthermore, he explained a number of supports for the development of food ecosystems through several scheme plans. These include cooperation with strategic partners in the context of strengthening food technology, optimizing the use of the Representative Office (RO) in G20 countries, and technology exchange through transfer of knowledge between G20 countries. This includes research collaboration in the context of business development in the upstream and downstream food sectors. To increase the trade sector by establishing bilateral or multilateral cooperation with G20 members. "ID FOOD Group has exported octopus cynea gray octopus, Tuna Loin to foreign countries in 2022. We also manage the Modern Fish Market as a fishery culinary center that G20 Delegates can visit and enjoy fresh fish produced by Indonesian fishermen," he explained. In addition to fisheries, coffee trade commodities at the international level are also an opportunity to get to know coffee from Indonesia. In 2022, ID FOOD has also exported coffee to Egypt which is absorbed from Indonesian farmers. Frans added that ID FOOD will support strengthening food security and promoting export-oriented food products. Whether it's agricultural products, plantations, fisheries, and their derivative industries, so that the international world is more familiar with Indonesian food products.

Food SOE Holding ID FOOD opened its voice on the proposal of the Minister of Trade (Mendag), Zulkifli Hasan, who asked SOEs to provide IDR 100 trillion to absorb farmers' crops. ID FOOD's Director of Business Development and Control Febriyanto said his party was ready to receive directions from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and SOE Minister Erick Thohir on the policy. But so far, he admitted that he had not received a direct assignment about it. "We will definitely join. The board of directors is a team work. So far I haven't updated what the scheme looks like. But if the context is a source of funding, we are definitely ready," said Febriyanto to Liputan6.com at the Head Office of PT Pupuk Indonesia, Jakarta, Wednesday (28/9/2022). Later, it is said that ID FOOD will participate in preparing the downstream process, especially for the distribution of farmers' crops. However, he stressed, state-owned companies must also take into account the value of their business so as not to lose money. "The practice is indeed a state. The package is a kind of assignment, but we can't afford to lose, we still have to make a profit, even though the margin is thin. Because our job is to support food security by providing cheap but quality food," he said. As for the clear scheme, Febriyanto, who is involved in development with ID FOOD, doesn't know what it will be like. But commercially, it will probably be run on a business to business (B2B) basis. "The scheme is definitely business to business (B2B), including with farmers. The most important thing, in my opinion, is the downstreaming that must be prepared," he explained. "This can't just be taken off and on, but it must be distributed to distributors, to end users, that's the most important thing," concluded the Managing Director of the Food BUMN Holding.
