West Sumatra Governor Supports Export Quality Wonorejo Coffee Downstream

The West Sumatra Provincial Government is very concerned about increasing agricultural growth, this is indicated by allocating 10% of the West Sumatra Provincial Budget in 2022 for this sector. The agricultural commodities that are the focus of the performance of the West Sumatra Provincial Government are rice, corn, chili, shallots, mangosteen, oranges, cocoa, palm oil, coffee, gambier, and rubber. This was conveyed by the Governor of West Sumatra during the Delivery of Assistance for Coffee Farmers and the Inauguration of the Coffee Production House, Maslamah PTL Coffee, together with Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) in Wonorejo, Nagari Lubuk Gadang, South Solok Regency, Sunday (23/10/2022). "Coffee, corn, and chocolate are superior products in West Sumatra, even West Sumatra's chocolate production is the second largest in Indonesia. Therefore, our downstream chocolate has export quality. Such as Minang Kakao and L'ile Chocolate products," he said. The governor said the export quality products would be exhibited at a product exhibition in Norway. The governor also asked the South Solok Regent to list agricultural products that had export quality, especially coffee, cocoa, and palm oil.

Besides that, the governor believes that the exchange rate of farmers in West Sumatra will increase, this is indicated by an increase in the exchange rate of farmers by 7.9 points in 2021. "West Sumatra's economic growth is already above 5% in the second quarter, this shows us when inflation accompanied by an increase in people's income and economic growth, there will be an economic balance. Let's work together to suppress the inflation rate and increase farmers' exchange rate income," added the governor. The Regent of South Solok, Khairunas, hopes that the West Sumatra Provincial Government will further expand the development of farmer groups and collaborate with existing resources in South Solok Regency. Meanwhile, the Head of the PTL Coffee Farm Group, Supriyanto, thanked BSI Maslahat for helping to develop a coffee plantation area of 16.5 hectares in the Wonorejo area. He hopes that this assistance can increase economic growth and the surrounding community.
