The Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan said that the global market is the main goal of the Indonesian fashion industry and the government is committed to providing support and facilities when opening the Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) 2023 event. "Last week, I closed the 2023 Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) with the successful implementation and transaction achievements of almost IDR 300 billion. JFW is a much bigger event and it is hoped that it will continue to advance," said the Minister of Trade in a statement in Jakarta, Monday (10/24/2022). The event was also attended by the Chairman of Jakarta Fashion Week Svida Alisjahbana and Director General of National Export Development Didi Sumedi. The Minister of Trade said that the Government, especially the Ministry of Trade, continues to support business actors, especially in the fashion sector, to make it bigger. It is the duty of the Ministry of Trade to help invade international markets. "If business actors are able to invade the world market, it means we have succeeded," he said.
The Minister of Trade believes that the Indonesian fashion industry can invade the world market. "Indonesian fashion is not inferior to any other country because it has resources with extraordinary talents. Therefore, it is time for Indonesia to invade the world market," he concluded. Export growth of Indonesian fashion products continues to show encouraging progress. In the January-August 2022 period, exports of this creative industry increased by 34.92% compared to the same period last year. Indonesia occupies the 16th position as a world fashion exporter with a market share of 1.69%. The main export destinations for Indonesian fashion products include the United States, Switzerland, Japan, China, and Germany. Meanwhile, the main products of Indonesian fashion exports include t-shirts, pants, blouses, jewelry, sports shoes, and footwear. JFW is an annual event that has been held since 2008. This year, JFW will be held on October 24th-30th, 2022. This activity aims to encourage the development of homeland fashion and is expected to lead the Indonesian fashion industry to enter the world fashion market.
