The Head of the Bandung Regency Agriculture Service, HA Tisna Umaran, received a visit from the Consulate General to Istanbul to the Gunung Puntang coffee farming area in Cimaung District, Bandung Regency, Sunday (10/23/2022). Turkey is a getaway for marketing all products, including coffee production. Turkey hopes to open up opportunities for cooperation with Bandung Regency. “In Turkey, the most dominant is it serves countries in Europe and North Africa,” explained Tisna. She also assessed that Turkey is a country with great potential for coffee marketing, because coffee marketing in Turkey is not only for consumption within Turkey, but it can directly marketed to countries in Europe and North Africa. “The gate is in Turkey and now it exists,” she said. According to her, the cooperation that will be built with Turkey, whatever is a product in Bandung Regency, Turkey is ready to cooperate. "Some time ago, the Turkish Muslim Entrepreneurs Association had come to Bandung Regency. We'll just have to go there (Turkey) later. Later, the Istanbul Consulate General will be facilitated to meet with and cooperate with. Of course, this cooperation is mutually beneficial," said Tisna. She said that last year, there was a demand for 80 tons of coffee from Turkey. "Essentially, if we are ready, they are also ready. For the last demand, the price was not right, we are also still learning related to coffee exports. Starting from infrastructure, institutions and so on," she said. He said that obtakers or entrepreneurs were also ready to export, having previously met with the Director General of Agriculture. "The most important thing is business," she said.
Tisna said that the coffee export readiness depends on the readiness of business actors or farmers in Bandung Regency. In the near future, Tisna said, his party will be invited again by the Director General, specifically discussing coffee corporations in Bandung Regency. "The visit of the Consulate General to Istanbul to Mount Puntang to see what kind of coffee plantations are. Want to tell the story of coffee from Bandung, West Java. Starting from photos and recordings," she said. Then, she said, the visit of the Consulate General was also to ensure the readiness of the Bandung Regency in cooperation, especially in the fields of agriculture, tourism and so on. Tisna Umaran stated that the production of coffee from Bandung Regency was the concern of the Turkey. It started with the delegation of PT Java Preanger Lestari Mandiri as the company that manages the Bandung Regency coffee corporation. The problem, Tisna added, is related to coffee exports. Cooperatives or farmer groups have actually carried out coffee exports, but have not directly exported them. According to her, the potential new markets are overseas, because domestic marketing has started to go to cafes and others. Even many other business actors who buy coffee in Bandung Regency. "We or our farmers must have the ability to export coffee abroad, including to Australia, Japan, Europe, the Caribbean, Morocco, Turkey and other countries. There was a delegation from the Ministry who came to Turkey, and Turkey was very enthusiastic, because Turkey is a marketing gateway for all products for North Africa and Europe," said Tisna.
